I'm using the APA citation style and wish to cite an author in the middle of the text and only the year of the publication in parenthesis rather than the standard (author, year) format whereas I also ensure that the references are included when I use the refresh bibliography option. How can I insert the citation as I mentioned? Does Mendeley offer this option?
To insert this type of citation, you would need to add the citation into your text as normal, and then click into the citation and edit it to suit your needs. If the citation is edited, it will still be added to your bibliography, but if you change the citation style, the edited citation will not be updated. Hope this helps!
The above answer works, however, if I use the same source several times in the document and sometimes I need it to be (Smith, 2011) and other times I need it to be Smith (2011) and other times I need it to be (Smith, p. 24, 2011) -- I can't figure out how to make it work. It edits the citation and then changes all other references. Do I need to go back through and fix them all once I am finished with the entire document? Thanks for any help you can offer!
I would also be interested in the answer to this, I'm having the same problem!
me too..I am trying to hold my faith in Mendeley, but it is really getting thin now
