Export field is grey - cannot export

Eiko Fried Feb 03, 2012 08:50PM GMT

Hello.

Trying to export from Mendeley on my MAC and Mendeley on my Windows machine doesn't work, because the button is "grey".

If I hover over "file", add files, add folder, watch folder, and add entry manually are selectable, but the next 6 are not. The last one (synchronize) is clickable again.

Never had any problems with Mendeley and google doesn't help with this problem.

Thanks (using newest Mendeley version)

I don't quite understand.
(1) says "we can fix it write us"
(2) says "we cannot fix it"
(3) says delete your local database file to make a local database export, which doesn't sound too helpful, and honestly I will not delete the local database because I don't know what will happen then :/

Any other help? Thank you so much

Do you upload your PDF file attachments to the web library? If so, could you please follow these steps and see if they help:
1) Open Mendeley Desktop and click Help >Reset Mendeley Desktop (if you cannot open Mendeley Desktop to complete this step, please skip to step 2)
2) Find and delete your local database (http://www.mendeley.com/faq/#locate-database)
3) Reopen Mendeley Desktop and sign in again

This should repopulate your database from your web library and hopefully resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.

Step 1) was possible, so were steps 2) and 3).
Step 2) means I only delete the database file mentioned in the URL, not all folders and all files, right?

After step 3, Mendeley populated the computer again and downloaded the 400 pdfs I have saved online.

However, I still have the same problem (see screenshot here: http://www.revelation-of-silence.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Bildschirmfoto-2012-02-06-um-2.35.38-PM.png)

Help ;)

You do need to select references to export by clicking on them in the Mendeley Desktop program window before attempting to export them. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused you.

I want to export the whole database. I thought there was an option for that, sorry!

You would need to select all the references in Mendeley Desktop and then click File >Export in order to be able to export your entire database. Apologies for the confusion.
