Mendeley

How do I import my existing references from Papers?

To import your Papers library, you need to first export your references to a Refman RIS file and then import that into Mendeley Desktop.
  1. In Papers, select the File menu and then Export... > Refman RIS file
  2. In the Save as field, type in a name for the exported file. This could be anything, ExportedLibrary for example.
  3. In the Where field select the folder that you want to save your library file to.
  4. Click Export
  5. In Mendeley Desktop, click the Add papers button, select the file you exported from Papers, and click Open.
In addition to Refman RIS format, Mendeley also supports importing of Endnote XML and BibTeX, both of which can be exported from Papers using a similar process.
